Overview & Reviews
The height-adjustable allroad debuted last year to fill a slot left in Audi's lineup by the lack of an SUV. For 2002, a heated multifunctional steering wheel with Tiptronic is an option, as is an OnStar telematics system. Standard is an in-dash six-disc changer. Brushed aluminum-finish accents spruce up the interior.
- Elegant styling, sumptuous interior, height-adjustable suspension, extensive safety features, lively V6 engine.
- Steep price tag, lack of a V8 engine, no transfer case for more adventurous off-roaders.

allroad -- segment busting since 2001 - 2002 Audi Allroad Quattro
By TingandCSR - November 28 - 10:00 amThis vehicle does so many things much better than adequately: blasting down the freeway on the lowest suspension setting, sliding around backwoods Adirondack dirt roads, plowing through snowbanks up on the highest setting, packed full of (heavy) band equipment without noticable wheezing or whining, and then cleaning up very nicely when called upon to do personal limousine duty. The only serious con continues to be the (perhaps) intentionally engineered- in transmission lag ... but allroad drivers learn to use sport or tip mode to lessen its effects.

a fine compromise - 2002 Audi Allroad Quattro
By ross1113 - November 14 - 2:00 amAside from the severe color pallete that Audi seems to prefer for offroad vehicles - and interior colors which remind me of the German Army Wermacht uniforms -- the car itself has been totally reliable, does all I have ever asked, and if it were not leased, I would chip the engine and transmission for more oomph both from Stratmosphere in Rush, NY -- but no complaints at all. also have a great dealership.

All Road All The Time - 2002 Audi Allroad Quattro
By lenslugger - July 21 - 10:00 amFit and Finish outstanding. Handling is very comfortable from a car of its weight. This car is a dream come true for the driver who wants everything in a car, looks, handling and a place to put your cargo.

quick, powerful, smooth..... BUT.... - 2002 Audi Allroad Quattro
By hfjuice - May 5 - 6:52 pmMy audi has 160,000 miles bought it not too long ago has no major problem but the oxygen censer gave up on me. other than that drive like new. the turbos are very nice has very little lag, it pick ups on the highway. the car hauls and has won me a race with a 740 bwm. my only big concern is the mpg in the city! this car really shine in the highway. for the power that it has it ok but i would love to see me squeezing a bit more on my fuel tank.

audi = porsche, without envy - 2002 Audi Allroad Quattro
By Victor - September 25 - 10:00 amThis is a wonderful car to drive. It is fast, comfortable and easy to handle. My previous car was a BMW 633 csi. My new Audi may not be as flashy, but it is every bit as fun to drive. Also it doesnt evoke envy, which is a nice aspect since I live in a university town.

On the rail and quick acceleration - 2002 Audi Allroad Quattro
By ex-JPN-ITA driver - April 1 - 7:56 amThe great satisfaction after one year ride. This purchase was the compromise of a sporty sedan and a SW, and perfectly satisfied the both. Remember, this is a near 2 tons weight of SUV-like wagon, but you can still drive it like a sport car on hwy or pwy. It goes exactly on the rail in almost any situation even with heavy rain or few inches of snow. Overtaking acceleration is excellent. (Use premium gas, that makes a difference!) The interior is chic and elegant with no complaints (for extra cup holders, use the openable sidepocket or the one under the rear seat). The build quality is definitely better than the same generation A6. Overall, the long lasting state of the art.

Who needs an SUV - 2002 Audi Allroad Quattro
By chris sutliff - February 17 - 10:00 amGreat car. Front end shake at 65-70mph I understand is a common complaint these days. Design flaw in wheels. Snow gets packed in them and causes the whole car to go out of balance and shake. Other than these relatively minor flaws, fast, fun, comfortable and the looks you get..Great Car.

A Delight to Drive - 2002 Audi Allroad Quattro
By Phoenix traveler - April 19 - 9:43 amWe wanted SUV performance without the bulk. As occassional off roaders who spend many hours driving long distance freeway miles we were looking for a multi purpose car. The Audi allroad has more than met our expectations.

Own one. Now. - 2002 Audi Allroad Quattro
By cleetus - July 31 - 10:00 amThe only complaint I have about the car - since I feel any review needs some type of criticism - is the lag in the Turbo. Compared to the A6 with the same engine, the allroads longer drivetrain and heavier body give the engine a split second lag off the line. Once you get going, though, the car is peppy, and so much fun to drive.
